The Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove founded, February 19, 1891, celebrated its 125th Anniversary on February 19, 2016. On this date the Woman’s Club, in association with New Theatre, presented the play Footprints, written by playwright and Lifetime Member Sandra Riley. The play dramatizes the pioneer lives of Mary Barr and Kirk Munroe and the early years of Coconut Grove and Miami. This cultural event brought friends and neighbors together in support of the Woman’s Club. Funds raised supported the renovations of the Woman's Club historic building, on the National Register of Historic Places. More than 100 were in attendance to celebrate this special Founders' Day. In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Everglades Royal Palm Park, the Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove hosted a reading of the play Footprints written by Sandra Riley. The play recounts the pioneer lives of Mary Bar Munroe (Melissa Hubicsak) and Kirk Munro (Clint Hooper), two visionaries who fought to save the hammocks and birds of the Everglades. A lively discuss was held with the playwright, Sandra Riley, Everglades Director of Education, Allyson Gantt and Every Kid in a Park volunteer Ellen Siegel. Proceeds benefited South Florida National Parks Trust Every Kid in a Park program.

As part of a program to promote cultural tourism, education, awareness, and to commemorate historic sites in Coconut Grove, the Woman's Club of Coconut Grove hosted the Historic Markers Celebration held on September 29, 2016. This well attended event was organized by Joyce Nelson, president of the Coconut Grove Civic Club and member of the Woman's Club Coconut Grove. In Joyce's address, she stated that "historic preservation of Coconut Grove has been one of her lifelong ambitions."Read More >>
For 16 years, the club has hosted an annual Seniors' Holiday Party for residents of West Grove. Members prepare a holiday meal, provide musical entertainment and give gifts to the 80 or more guests in attendance. The 2016 Seniors Holiday Party was chaired by members Ivette Bravo and Sherrill Martin. The City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado dropped by to wish everyone a happy holiday. Read More >>
The Woman's Club hosted the Villagers at a high tea honoring the organization for its 50 years of dedication to historic preservation. The Villagers have played an important role in Miami’s history for many organizations and their support has been especially important in the history of our Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove.
